Biography

Michelle Chan (Bmus, DipABRSM, ATCL (TD), LTCL) is a freelance piano teacher based in Singapore. She has more than 15 years of piano teaching experience since 2004.
As a passionate music teacher, she has attended several teachers’ seminars to hone her teaching skills. All of her students, from Grade 1 to diploma level, have aced their exams with her guidance.

Besides helping her students with their exam preparations, Michelle organises annual students’ recitals regularly, and conducts group lessons on music history to foster music appreciation in her students. She encourages her students to take part in public performances and music competitions.
Some of her students' achievements include:
- Gold and silver awards in 1st Ars Nova Festival 2013
- Gold, silver and bronze awards in 2nd Ars Nova Festival 2014
- 3rd prize (ABRSM Grade 1 category) in Singapore International Piano Youth Competition 2015
- Gold and silver awards in Ars Nova Festival 2019
- Platinum and gold awards in 1st Le Petit Performers’ Festival 2019
Michelle’s unwavering passion in piano led to the completion of her DipABRSM (performance) in 2007. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Music (University of Melbourne) in 2010 with distinctions for all music teaching subjects. Prof. Max Cooke was her instrumental teacher during her university days. After graduation, she attained her LTCL (performance) and ATCL (teaching) under the tutelage of Mr. Simon Soh.
Currently, she is working on her fellowship in performance with Mr. Simon Soh. She is also an appointed IPVAEB Music examiner.
